Update on new products

Our major new product release is now in Beta. We were hoping to release it in late 2009, but the testing has revealed some issues we want to fix first. I am not willing to compromise on the quality or security of our products. The unsatisfactory result of trying to stretch our old framework to work with new operating systems and browsers drove us to this total re-architecture of the solutions.

A nice side effect is that the new products will work cross platform (we should launch with Mac, Windows and iPhone), and support many more programs and protocols than the old solutions. It supports all the latest browsers on all supported platforms.

We don’t have a firm ship date yet, but we are getting close.

Will customers having their new Anonymizer Universal subcriptions extended to cover the six month or so period Anonymous Surfing didn’t work with Firefox 3.5?

This will be on a case by case basis. Please contact customer support. They can take care of you.

My Anonymizer Universal Beta hasn’t worked since I it came out and was installed on my computer. The link for technical support also is not working in the beta. I have emailed 3 times for tech support because having Anonymizer on my computer and not working concerns me. Can someone help me get this working? I would really appreciate some help. Thanks.

I know that there have been some major, and unexpected, load issues on the firewall which has caused failures in the beta. You should have heard something about it from the beta team. I will make sure they follow up with you.

This is why we do the beta, so we can discover these issues before a full launch.

I was able to install the beta, but couldn’t get it to run b/c it wanted me to download and install a windows.net framework. I have since lost the link to reinstall the beta. Sorry.

  6. lance Says:

I forwarded your message to the beta team. They should be able to help you with the link to re-install.

Beta seems to be running smoothly. I miss all the info from the TNS interface. I assume the outgoing stuff from my computer is encrypted? Is there anyplace I can see the specifications for the beta. Any chance of getting a “verbose” interface option?

  8. lance Says:

Yes, the outgoing content is encrypted. I will post the exact technical specs shortly.
Great idea on the verbose interface option. I will put that in the feature request list. There is a tricky balance between a really clean user interface and missing information you really wanted to see.

Even a blink from the systray icon when the connection is accessed would be reassuring.

Yes, good thought. Some kind of sign that data is flowing.
